I have always perceived the world through two distinct perspectives, much like observing through a window whose glass shifts with the changing light. As a software engineer, I navigate environments defined by precise lines, logical symmetry, and the steady rhythm of code; each pattern quietly imposes order on complexity. As an autistic individual, emotions do not arrive in torrents but as gentle tides, gradually revealing their meaning. Writing is the current where these streams converge, a quiet shore where structure meets feeling. It provides a space to sift through the tangled roots of experience, searching for glimmers of meaning that resist categorisation.
Poetry enables me to comprehend experiences that are otherwise difficult to articulate. It allows me to engage with emotions that I cannot immediately identify and to explore the subtle spaces where longing, restraint, and memory reside. Much of what I write lingers in the aftermath of connection, in the tension between what was felt and what was spoken, and in the emotional residue of relationships that never fully formed. These themes recur not because I seek them out, but because my mind returns to them in the process of self-understanding.
My autistic experience shapes my voice in ways that are both gentle and foundational. I often experience emotions intensely but require time to understand them, and writing provides the necessary distance for reflection. I pay close attention to nuance and to subtle shifts in tone or meaning that others might overlook. Poetry allows me to translate these internal movements into language and to approach my feelings with the same care I apply to understanding systems.
Within this collection, readers will encounter writing that is thoughtful, deliberate, and quietly honest. I hope you approach these pieces with patience and curiosity, allowing them to unfold at their own pace. You do not need to share my experiences to find something familiar here. As you read, I invite you to pause and recall a moment from your own life that echoes the emotions or themes in these poems, and to reflect on how it shaped you. If a line or feeling resonates, I hope it encourages you to slow down, to sit with your own emotions a little longer, and to recognise the value in the quiet, unspoken parts of your life. If my work offers even a small sense of clarity or companionship, then it has fulfilled its purpose.
